Ward Patterson, a CCU alumnus, and Professor, spent the 1960s traveling to 38 countries to document ancient artifacts. Instead of using a camera, Dr. Patterson developed a rubbing process that transferred the images of hundreds of tablets, walls, monuments, columns, and other artifacts onto cloth. View this video to see one of Dr. Patterson’s rubbings and learn from Jim Lloyd, Director of Library Services, how it and other important historical items are being preserved by the Elliott Library.
